What We Do

Tailored Academics

Our personalized learning approach tailors academic experiences to the unique needs, interests, and strengths of our Learners. We recognize that every child is different and requires different approaches to learning. Our approach focuses on creating a safe environment that is flexible, Learner-centered, adaptive and reinforcing. This approach builds confidence and self-esteem, as well as improves academic outcomes and fosters a love of learning.

At Monarch Academy we utilize a hands-on, project-based and expeditionary learning approach, and have an interdisciplinary approach to all daily activities. Our educators provide direct and small group instruction, and closely monitors academic progress, while our clinical team collects consistent data for daily, weekly and monthly goal-setting.

Skill Acquisition Programming

We utilize a strengths- and interests-based approach to all program development, and meet each child where they're at. We prioritize meaningful-to-the-learner and socially-significant skill acquisition programming to build independence, problem solving and executive functioning skills, and creativity. By focusing on quality skill acquisition, our Learners' challenges and deficits naturally dissipate over time, and their confidence and competence skyrockets. 

Social-Emotional Learning

We believe that when Learners have supportive relationships and opportunities to develop and practice social, emotional, and cognitive skills across many different settings, their academic learning accelerates. Our Social and Social-Emotional programming focuses on developing and growing each of our Learners' Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship, and Responsible Decision Making skills.

Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is one of the tools in our proverbial toolbox. We are not a typical ABA learning environment and pride ourselves on always being flexible, strategic, mindful and trauma-informed. Our therapists use the principles of behavior analysis, with an emphasis placed on the principles of shaping, modeling, contingency contracting, reinforcement, and self-monitoring. Our philosophy at Monarch Academy is that each Learner should be informed and involved in the development and progression of their programming, and should be seen, heard, felt and respected. "Choice is a central principle in the delivery of ethical behavioral services" (Cooper et. al. 2007).
